Meet Our Summer 2024 Intern: Malini Boorgu

The Sycamore Institute would like to offer a warm welcome to Malini Boorgu, our summer Policy Intern. We asked Malini to share a little bit about herself below. If you or someone you know are interested in an internship with Sycamore, please visit SycamoreInstituteTN.org/jobs. Applications for Fall 2024 internships are due June 28. Now, let’s meet Malini!

Name: Malini Boorgu

School: Brandeis University

Major: B.S. in Health Policy and B.A. in Business Administration

Hometown: Brentwood, TN

Why did you want to intern at the Sycamore Institute?

The Sycamore Institute stood out to me because it provides digestible research and analysis of complex issues from a position of neutrality intended to create positive change that is not from a place of bias. I believe an experience at the Sycamore Institute will allow me to grow both professionally and personally as I will be able to spend my summer around like-minded professionals participating in real research processes to create a better Nashville.

Where do you want to be in 15 years?

Although it is a broad statement, in 15 years I simply want to be somewhere I can create positive change. Currently, I am unsure what specifically that means for me, I know that my experience at The Sycamore Institute will help guide me onto the right path.

What are your interests and activities outside of school?

Outside of school/work, I enjoy doing arts and crafts projects. I recently have become interested in upcycling, but have enjoyed many other art forms like embroidery, resin craft, painting, woodburning, quilling, etc.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself!

A fun fact about myself is that I can wiggle my ears!
